About Me

What do you actually do?

I help expats in Spain go from “My lack of Spanish is getting me nowhere” to confidently going places and getting s*$t stuff done in Spanish.

Through storytelling, I make sure you don’t just learn Spanish and random words— I make sure you acquire the language naturally.

In normal words: that you learn Spanish like babies learn their first language.

What does it mean to learn with stories?

It means that instead of working with a normal textbook, you’re going to use a story as your baseline.

(I have lots of stories 😉)

First, I’m going to make sure you understand it, because that’s the first step: comprehension

Second, I’m going to ask A LOT of questions, so that you can answer in full sentences and so start practicing in context.

Third, through the questions we’re going to, either expand the story, or talk about yourself, like a conversation in real life would go.

I’m in! What should I do next?

Start by watching a sample Spanish lesson using TPRS and stories and see for yourself what it can do for you.

Who are you?

I’m Jimena. Nice to meet you!

If you’re wondering how to pronounce my name, you can hear how it sounds in the audio below.

I’m a Mexican living in Madrid. I’m a mom to three teenagers, two sausage dogs, and wife to an Irishman who somehow puts up with all of us.

Were you always a Spanish teacher?

No.

In my past life I used to work in the corporate world and in fact, I may have said that I was never going to teach languages!

But life happened and today I ask myself why did I not do this before?

Has it happened to you, too?

How long have you lived in Madrid?

Long enough to call Madrid home.

I arrived back in 2013 as an expat, and let me tell you—those first months were kind of a nightmare.

I kept wondering,

how do other expats survive here without knowing the language?

Today I help expats in Madrid do more than just survive — I help them actually tell their story in Spanish and find their place here.

I focus on breaking the language barrier while offering a safe space to ask questions, share experiences, and build a community.
