From expat's spouse
expat madrileña/o

Once upon a time in Madrid, there was a happy expat family eager to embrace Spanish life.

Mom, dad, the kids, and even their furry friend all had one goal: master Spanish!

The kids figured they were acing it from school lessons. Mom and dad, well, they had a Spanish tutor, or a fancy course sorted, courtesy of work. But, you know how life likes to throw surprises? Yup, it did. Days turned into months, and oops! They realized they still couldn’t chitchat like locals.

Despite living in Madrid, they felt like perpetual outsiders in conversations. Why, oh why? They asked themselves. Maybe they weren’t practicing enough or didn’t know where to find those chances to put their Spanish to the test often enough.

Whatever the reason, they sighed, and resigned to their fate as forever outsiders in their Spanish adventure.

The end.
The end?
It need not be that way.

Join me in this webinar where I will share with you a few tips and tricks to practice Spanish outside of the classroom, even if you don’t leave your house.

Because the first step to speaking more Spanish starts with understanding more of it.

Understanding more leads to speaking more. And speaking more leads to speaking better

And understanding and speaking makes you be part of this great city and not be an outsider anymore.

It makes you feel like a true madrileña or madrileño.

You will learn…

One easy way to listen Spanish on the go to understand all those words that sound like a blur at first, but then you know what they mean on the street.

Words and expressions in real context while at the hairdresser’s, and start using them with your Spanish friends.

My friend Lorena´s trick in Germany to have enough vocabulary to talk to people without the need to have perfect German (or Spanish, in your case).

Two ways to help your brain remember daily vocabulary, in case the doctor asks about your habits, routines or you end up in the A&E and you have to recall quickly what you were doing earlier.

My daughter’s trick to sound like Ron Weasley in the chess scene of Harry Potter 1, and that you can also apply to sound more natural in Spanish.

Among many other down-to-earth ideas.

This is me

“Wait a second, who are you anyway?”

I´m Jimena, a Mexican, who moved out of Mexico a long time ago and have previously lived in Ireland, England, and Germany.

Living there I had the need to improve my language skills to a level where life in those countries stopped being a challenge, language-wise.

And I did it. Slowly, but using every opportunity I had to speak, read, write and listen.

And I want to share those tips with you, both as a fellow expat, and a Spanish teacher

using all my knowledge and know-how to help you both understand and communicate in a meaningful way.

That is: being yourself.

But don't take my word for it, this is what previous participants have said about this webinar...

That’s the reason I prepared this webinar: for you not to have excuses anymore to not practice Spanish

Do you have more questions?

Nothing horrible will happen. I will record the webinar and will send you the link for you to watch it in peace and quiet for a week afterwards. But this is only available if you sign up.

Simply because you will come out with many ideas to put your Spanish into practice. And not just ideas, you will try my tips during the webinar, because it's planned to give you a few minutes to try out each one, so that you can pick and choose what best works for you.

However, only you know what your priorities are and so you should decide which one to attend.

Other than your email and time, you don't have to pay anything.

I will be lying if I said no. There will be a short term offer at the end of the webinar, that you can take or not, and it doesn't oblige you to commit to a long term course. There are no strings attached in this webinar, promise. If you don't believe me, just come and find out for yourself.

You will get an email from me with:

  • the link to Zoom
  • a pdf with a sample of the resources we'll use
  • further information about my newsletter.

Just put the date and time in your calendar and show up. Maybe bring a pen and paper to write down ideas. But I will send you the presentation afterwards, anyway.

Just send me an email to info@jimenaibarra.com and I will gladly get back to you.

Yes. Because even if you put one of these tips into practice, you will be doing a lot to improve your Spanish on a daily basis. Even more so than doing your 10 minutes with the app of the green bird and any other with AI answering you back.

So, if you want to stop wasting your time, join this webinar to improve your Spanish every day, in real life.
